According to me DTH is unfair in Delhi. I live in South Delhi and i am under compulsion to use this service but when i move towards East Delhi there is no DTH service. They still operate by cable network. I have to pay nearly 450 rupees for two Televisions while earlier i use to pay nearly 200 Rupees for any number of televisions. When i looked up the details I found that TRAI recommended this because there was no regulation on cable operators and in india there are as many as 45000+ cable operators working under no regulations. So according to TRAI this is introduced so as to regulate this cable industry. This in a way is right but the ultimate suffering is to the general consumers like me. Today a Tata Sky costs 2500 for set top box and packages seperate ranging from 99 to 500 (approx) per month per TV. We give so much money for a single TV that an average middle class person finds it difficult to afford.
Secondly, there was so much of a hype and compulsions created for this type of services that they were made compulsory in many parts of Delhi but still many are left. Why is it so ? If its not compulsory in many parts of Delhi , Then why is it compulsory for us. And if its like this , How is TRAI gonna change the face of Cable Industry?
There are many solutions to this problem :-
- Either TRAI Provides subsidy for TV networks so average consumer of delhi can afford.
- Cut the cost of these set top boxes and packages.
- Not make it compulsory if they cannot make it compulsory for whole Delhi
I am just a consumer who wants this system to be removed or if it stays, the costs to be cut so that we people can afford.
